The Heart of Man, Part 4

Lion of Judah Worship Center Ministries, Pastor E. C. Dowdy

Scriptural References: Genesis 6:5; I Samuel 16:7; Ps. 19:8-pillars: verses 7 & 9.

We once again return to the study of the heart of man, what it is, why this study is important, and how we need to place emphasis on the Word of life to purify our hearts. We peruse the account of God speaking to the Prophet Samuel telling him that the seven older sons of Jesse were not His choice. He concluded with the divine revelation that he looks on the heart of man, not the outer appearance.

From this conversation it is easy to ascertain that while we can alter our actions in the natural dimension to fit the situation, God is not fooled by masks of deception. He is looking on the “inner man” heart-Leb. The real person that determines our thoughts, ideas, beliefs, words, and actions. Jesus would say, “From the issue of the heart, the mouth speaks” Matt. 12:34. Everything that comes forth from us, and everything that enters us comes through the heart. Proverbs 4:23 tells us to keep our hearts with all diligence…translation: watch what we focus on. James tells us that sweet and bitter waters do not flow form the same source. When scripture refers to Noah, he is described as “a righteous man” (Genesis 6:8), one who found grace in the eyes of God

His heart was right in God’s sight, and he worked on building the ark for one hundred years, yet not one person changed their heart/mind. They did not take the Word of God serious! Are we taking God’s Word serious? Do we consider it bankable? God tells us that he watches over His Word to perform it, that He will not alter the thing that has gone forth out of His mouth… Are our hearts like Noah’s heart, or like his community? When the rains began to fall, then they sought shelter, but it was too late. God Himself closed the door and sealed it.

As we read/meditate on the contents of the heart as described by Jesus in Matt. 15: 18-19 and Mark 7:17-23 we get a much clearer understanding of the necessity of heart cleansing that is required to transform it into a place that is pure and filled with the Word of God, the love of God, the peace of God, and other manifestations of the nature of God. We find ourselves in that place of being men and women after the heart of God. Pure from defilement. Fear and unforgiveness cause defilement of our hearts, unclean in the sight of God. Our hearts are cleansed by the washing of water of the word, and purified.

Healing and Deliverance

Foundation Scripture for LOJWC Ministry:

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23

What We Believe:

We believe in God, the Father, Almighty, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day he rose again according to Scripture. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, from whence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head, who revealed himself on the day of Pentecost. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit and their continuous operation in the body of Christ. And we believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic church. Amen.

Faith Confession:

We conduct spiritual warfare. It begins with us as we speak God’s word and speak to our bodies, minds, and emotions. Therefore we make a faith confession which says: “Satan, in the Name of Jesus, I declare this body a sickness-disease-free zone. Every germ, virus, bacterium, etc., that touches this body dies instantly in the name of Jesus, who bore my sicknesses, carried my diseases, and by whose stripes I have been healed. Therefore I command life into every cell in this body, I receive healing for my emotions from every past embedded hurtful, fearful memory. I speak active deliverance from the law of sin and death, according to the finished works of Jesus the Christ, the anointed and His anointing.
