He Delivered Them

What does deliverance by God mean for us today? We have everything. We can compare ourselves with the church of Laodicea in the Book of Revelation—lukewarm. We have every physical thing we need. But in many instances, the faith in our heart is not sufficient to carry us through the challenges we face. God is saying to His people, “Trust in me.”

Destruction means a pitfall. The pit has been dug for us to fall into. Destruction is a pit. In Psalm 107, we find that God sent his Word to heal us and deliver us from everything that came against us, to steal, to kill, and to destroy us. This applies to our spirits, souls, and to the natural, physical things. First the Word heals, then it delivers. The thief is fear. This is the thief that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy. (John 10:10) But God gave us a spirit of authority, of love, and sound minds. (2 Tim. 1:7)

What are the most common pitfalls? Wrong thinking. The first battle of the mind was with Eve in the garden of Eden. The enemy relentlessly bombards our mind from its arsenal. The battle rages in the mind because we are in a spiritual battle. The enemy offers wrong thinking that seems right. Evil seems good; and we surrender and lower the shield of faith and let the thoughts enter. If the enemy can’t get in and alter our thoughts, we have to lift the shield of faith and quench the fiery darts, then it can’t succeed. And realize that those attacks occur no matter how spiritual we become! For more insight, listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on May 3, 2020.

Foundation Scripture for LOJWC Ministry:

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23

What We Believe:

We believe in God, the Father, Almighty, and in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. On the third day he rose again according to Scripture. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father, from whence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the God-head, who revealed himself on the day of Pentecost. We believe in the gifts of the Spirit and their continuous operation in the body of Christ. And we believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic church. Amen.

Faith Confession:

We conduct spiritual warfare. It begins with us as we speak God’s word and speak to our bodies, minds, and emotions. Therefore we make a faith confession which says: “Satan, in the Name of Jesus, I declare this body a sickness-disease-free zone. Every germ, virus, bacterium, etc., that touches this body dies instantly in the name of Jesus, who bore my sicknesses, carried my diseases, and by whose stripes I have been healed. Therefore I command life into every cell in this body, I receive healing for my emotions from every past embedded hurtful, fearful memory. I speak active deliverance from the law of sin and death, according to the finished works of Jesus the Christ, the anointed and His anointing.
