God is looking on the heart, not the outward appearance. Sometimes what we see on the outside does not match the inside. Whenever there is disparity between the spirit and the lips, it shows double-mindedness. It looks like fleeting faith on the lips and fear in the heart. This is hypocrisy, or pretended virtue. What creates the discrepancy? Failure to grow the Word seed in our reborn spirits. We must prepare our hearts to receive God’s word. Break up the hard, rocky places. Romans 10:9–10 shows us the order: believe in our heart and then confess with our mouths. We invite you to listen to this message delivered by Dr. Dowdy on January 7, 2018, highlighting God’s word from Mark 7:6–7, Isaiah 29:13, Ezekiel 14:1–3, and James 1:5–8.
