Our scriptural test is based upon Phil. 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (7) and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

All forms of prayer should support your request in thankfulness. That is not the first place where we see references to the peace of God. It is compared to a watchman, stationed at the gateway of our spirits, and our minds. In other words it keeps us from the seepage of fear, doubt, and unbelief into our spirits. It will not input from our emotions, our intellect, or thoughts to overwhelm our souls. That is a testament to the goodness of God, His mercifulness, and His love for the creation of His hands, humanity.

We live in an atmosphere where fear in all its forms permeate our living spaces on a daily basis, the heat from those situations sometimes dry our spirits from all moisture of the Word, causing a drought in our spirits that kills the word seed we are growing. This act then gives the opportunity for the weeds of fear, doubt etc. to overgrow the Word seed and produce after their kind. God, the awesome, knows our frame, He has made every weapon that brings forth deliverance available to us. One of those weapons is the spirit of peace. The peace of God is a spirit. One of His covenant names to us is Jehovah Shalom, The LORD our peace, as the mediator of peace He is able to render null, void, and impotent, the devices used against us to return us to captivity.

This message is taken from where I am today, having witnessed the peace of God operational in my life this very moment. When we make a decision to stand on the Word of God in our lives, the enemy comes immediately to plant fear, doubt and unbelief, to steal our confidence in God, to destroy our faith and to kill our commitment to His promises and His Word to us. Listen! Church of the living God, before the word-seed brings forth fruit, there is sorrow multiplied, but that indicates the gestation period is proceeding, we should keep our joy, lift up a psalm of praise, and magnify the Lord our redeemer for Hos power to keep us in all of our ways.

His spirit of peace is a guarantee that He is at work in us, the promise/petition has not been neglected, nor cast aside. God’s peace is resident in our spirits, we activate it by speaking it forth in faith, that is the planting process, we nurture its growth through praise, joy, and confidence in the living God, who has stated He watches over His Word; that His Word will not return to His void, and Jesus’ Words: …When you pray, believe that you receive…

Yes we can have peace, when all around us chaos and havoc are reigning. Isa. 26:3 states: “I will keep in perfect peace, him whose mind is stayed on me.” When we keep bringing our minds back to the Word of the living God, and replacing the words of the enemy, we will produce a crop of the word-seed we have planted. Isn’t it great to realize we don’t have to be fearful, we don’t have to endure queasy stomachs, tension headaches, or the cape of worry, when the suit of God’s peace is readily available to everyone who names the name of Jesus Christ as savior and Lord.
